iPads - GoGuardian First Setup

GoGuardian is used on iPads as a content filter to ensure that inappropriate or malicious websites cannot be viewed by students. This is the same filter used on all student Chromebooks.

On Chromebooks everything is automatic, however, on iPads GoGuardian will sometimes require manual intervention.

After you are connected to a Wifi network, whether it be your home network or a network provided by the school, you should see a Wifi icon, as well as the word "VPN" beside of the battery percentage in the top right of the screen.

If both of these icons appear, you should be good to go and you should be able to access the Internet. If you cannot access the Internet, then you will need to open the GoGuardian app. Go to the home screen if you're not there already (screen with the wallpaper and all the apps available to be opened). By default, this is what you should see:

Once you're at the screen above, swipe to the right and you should see a screen with more app icons. Tap on the one that I'm pointing to in the following picture (the GoGuardian app):

This should open up to a screen that looks like the one below. It may start out with something saying "Oh Snap" but if you give it a few minutes (sometimes you may even have to restart the iPad), it should say "Hurray" and give you the following screen. If you don't see this screen at some point, you may need to take your iPad in to the school and have someone give it to the technology technician for that school to repair it.

Once you've seen this screen you should be good to go. Just close it by pressing the home button and go back to doing whatever you needed to.
